In Feudal Japan, life is harsh and difficult for the peasants.
They are at the mercy of the village Samurai, Kira Sama, who controls the village for the Daimyo. The smallest infraction of respect, arcane rules or honour can result in severe punishment without appeal.
Asakaze is a young boy, barely ten years old, when, playing as young boys do, he causes a terrible tragedy that affects his entire family - and changes the direction of his life.
Scarcely able to comprehend how his life could have altered so completely since the morning, Asakaze is given harsh lessons in the rules and ritual of Japanese society.
It is a society full of traps and danger. Romance and betrayal. There are alliances to be made and enemies to be defeated. Asakaze grows into this realm and becomes very adept at the games that are played.
It is a world where honour is everything. Held above all else. A man without honour is nothing.
With such honour, comes revenge.
Weaving together the threads of the story, it rushes towards a breath-taking climax.
Which path shall Asakaze take?
To visit a world where a sideways glance can lead to death, where absolute power is wielded without compassion, purchase Asakaze Peasant on now.
Asakaze Peasant edition by Martin H Kerrigan Children eBooks
This is one of those stories that's about a time of unimaginable, wanton cruelty, a time when human life was cheap and human rights nonexistent. It's worth the read to remind us how many people lived in such conditions and how long such conditions prevailed. It's a quick read because it's not a long story. The ending is unsettling, but to be fair, I'm not sure there is any form of realistic ending to such a story that could be satisfying.Product details

Asakaze Peasant edition by Martin H Kerrigan Children eBooks Reviews
This book is filled with historical inaccuracies, typos, and a plodding storyline. Don't waste your time reading this terrible book.
I found the number of grammar mistakes intrusive. Was this edited? However it presented a good view of the Japanese peasant of the past. The characters were fairly well drawn but unfortunately nearly all of them died a violent death.
interesting and compelling tale of Japans fuedal system through the eyes of a peasant, the lowest rung in that system.heartwarming but sad
I agree with the other 4 & 5 stars reviews. I enjoy the reading the book, but it was very hard and cruel life.
It has been a while since I read this, but I very much enjoyed the cultural experience this book has to offer, & found the story quite interesting.
This story follows the life of a Japanese peasant boy into manhood that was thrust upon him by the killing of his father. The writing style is interesting and in keeping with what I would assume is a Japanese peasant life at least 100 years ago would be like. The ending was a surprise but definitely what the book needed. The editing of the book was well done also.
